Gen.G’s Bold Plan to Build the Next Generation of Gaming Pros
When it comes to shaping the future of competitive gaming, few organizations are as ambitious as Gen.G. Known for dominating leagues like League of Legends and Valorant, the global esports powerhouse is now turning its focus inward — cultivating the next wave of elite players, coaches, and strategists from the ground up.
Investing in Youth Talent
Gen.G recently launched its NextGen Academy, a global talent incubator designed to identify and train young gamers as early as age 13. Unlike traditional tryouts, the program uses AI-driven performance analytics, psychological profiling, and structured curriculum to evaluate potential beyond just K/D ratios.
The academy operates in key gaming hubs: Seoul, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Singapore. Each location has a dedicated training facility with access to:
- Pro-level coaching staff from former LCS and VCT champions
- Custom-built training simulators mimicking pro match conditions
- Academic support to balance education and esports
- Mental resilience and nutrition programs
From Bench to Broadcast
It’s not just about becoming a pro player — Gen.G is also building pipelines for behind-the-scenes roles. Trainees can specialize in:
- Team coaching and strategy analysis
- Esports broadcasting and content creation
- Performance data science
- Talent management and scouting
Some academy graduates have already joined Gen.G’s developmental rosters, while others are now commentating on regional tournaments or analyzing match data for the main team.
Building a Sustainable Esports Ecosystem
Gen.G’s long-term vision is to reduce burnout and instability in competitive gaming. By integrating education, mental health support, and career diversification, they’re proving esports doesn’t have to be a dead-end path.
"We don’t want our players to be legends for two years and then disappear," says Gen.G CEO, Allen Cho. "We want them to lead the industry for decades. That starts with how we train them today."
How to Apply
Open applications for the 2025 NextGen Academy cycle begin July 1st. Interested players must submit:
- A 3-minute gameplay highlight reel
- Documentation of competitive experience (LMs, tournaments, etc.)
- Personal statement on their goals in esports
Qualified applicants then undergo a 7-day remote evaluation camp. No entry fee is required — Gen.G covers all costs for selected candidates.
With this initiative, Gen.G isn’t just building champions — they’re building a new era of esports professionalism.
